Regulatory and Code Updates for March and April 2018

RAE regularly produces a short summary of important changes to regulations and codes that may impact our clients. The following are the updates from the months of March and April:

ABSA realeased Volume 23, Issue 1 of the Pressure News. This issue describes some major accidents that occurred last year.
ABSA also released Information Bulletin IB16-006 and a new revision of AB-526 ISI Certification Requirements.

The AER will be launching a new website on May 7th and has released Directives 059, and 060. In addition, the AER is launching a new online process for submitting various pipeline construction activities.
The AER has indicated that all applications for major projects can now be grouped together into a single application as part of an Integrated Application Process.

Technical Safety BC released an Information Bulletin that clarifies the use of compliance audits.

BC Oil and Gas Commission released Industry Bulletin 2018-07, regarding changes to required well data reported through eSubmission.

TSASK released a FAQ List on the annual renewal of boiler and pressure vessels.

ABSA realeased AB-513, Edition 3 and Information Bulletins IB18-002, IB18-003, and IB18-004.

The AER released Bulletin 2018-02 which explains that Directive 008, 036, and 037 have been amended to provide revised requirements for well control methods and well control and well blowout prevention certifications.

ABSA realeased Volume 22 of the Pressure News and Information Bulletin IB17-023.

Technical Safety BC is introducing compliance and enforcement fees for non-compliant contractors. Information can be found here.

BC OGC has released an industry bulletin which introduces changes to emergency response plan requirements.

RAE regularly produces a short summary of important changes to regulations and codes that may impact our clients. The following are the updates from the month of October:

The BC OGC released a bulletin in June about new requirements for facility management programs. Permit holders must review the Integrity Management Programs for Facilities (IMPF) protocol and evaluate their IMPF using the self-assessment questionnaire found here. This must be completed and e-mailed to the Commission by November 30, 2017.

TSASK released a bulletin regarding the use of 1380 kpa (200 psi) propane tanks in Saskatchewan. These tanks do not meet the requirements of the legislation and must not be used in Saskatchwan. More details can be found here.

BCSA has officially changed their name to Technical Safety BC. The new website is www.technicalsafetybc.ca.
A bulletin was released regarding the emergency shutdown systems for propane vaporizers.

BC OGC issued a bulletin regarding a new submission process for well suspensions and inspections.
