Regulatory and Code Updates for November to December 2017

RAE regularly produces a short summary of important changes to regulations and codes that may impact our clients. The following are the updates from the months of November and December:

The AER released Bulletin 2017-19: New Authorizations Process to Implement the Alberta Wetland Policy and Bulletin 2017-21: New Edition of Directive 067: Eligibility Requirements for Acquiring and Holding Energy Licences and Approvals.

Regulatory and Code Updates for October 2017

RAE regularly produces a short summary of important changes to regulations and codes that may impact our clients. The following are the updates from the month of October:

The BC OGC released a bulletin in June about new requirements for facility management programs. Permit holders must review the Integrity Management Programs for Facilities (IMPF) protocol and evaluate their IMPF using the self-assessment questionnaire found here. This must be completed and e-mailed to the Commission by November 30, 2017.

RAE regularly produces a short summary of important changes to regulations and codes that may impact our clients. The following are the updates from the months of August to September:

TSASK released a bulletin regarding the use of 1380 kpa (200 psi) propane tanks in Saskatchewan. These tanks do not meet the requirements of the legislation and must not be used in Saskatchwan. More details can be found here.

BCSA has officially changed their name to Technical Safety BC. The new website is www.technicalsafetybc.ca.
A bulletin was released regarding the emergency shutdown systems for propane vaporizers.

BC OGC issued a bulletin regarding a new submission process for well suspensions and inspections.

Regulatory and Code Updates for June to July 2017

RAE regularly produces a short summary of important changes to regulations and codes that may impact our clients. The following are the updates from the months of June to July:

ABSA issued an alert for the deregistration of ¾” hose assemblies registered under CRN 0D15253.2 to Fluid Hose & Coupling Inc. These hoses should be removed from service. See the alert here.
ABSA released Volume 22, Issue 2 of The Pressure News , Information Bulletin No. IB17-011, and Variance VA17-004 (IB17-012).

TSASK has created a table outlining the operator attendance requirements.
TSASK released a new paper about replacement nameplates and/or restamping of code data on pressure-retaining items. It is intended for companies that do not have a National Board R Symbol Certificate of Authorization. You can view the paper here.

BCSA has a new directive about the qualification of pressure welders in BC.

BC OGC released a bulletin informing about the new requirements for facility management programs for facilities.
BC OGC also released a bulletin regarding amendments to the Drilling and Production Regulation.

ABSA now has a basic summary of accident reports available on their website.
Electronic design submissions can be electronically returned to ABSA Design Survey. Click here for more information.
ABSA released Volume 22, Issue 1 of The Pressure News and Information Bulletin No. IB17-004.

TSASK released a new policy paper on engineered pressure enclosures (EPE). Details regarding the paper and the accompanying form can be found here.
TSASK released IP-2016-10-02 Additional Information and Requirements for Oilfield Boilers regarding the annual licence to operate in Saskatchewan.

BCSA issued an information bulletin to clarify the incident reporting requirements.
Various amendments to BCSA safety regulations are being made in BC. Details can be found in this bulletin.

ABSA released the December Pressure News, along with a number of documents that were updated at the start of 2017. Click here for more information.
ABSA released IB17-001 Quality Management Systems for Pressure Relief Devices and IB17-002 Quality Management System Requirements for Integrity Assessment Organizations.

AER issued an updated version of Directive 013: Suspension Requirements for Wells.

BCSA released an updated directive on Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) Dispensing Site Requirements, relating to the design registration requirements, equipment installation and operation.
