Every month RAE produces a short summary of important changes to regulations and codes that may impact our clients. The following are the updates from the month of October:
ABSA released IB16-015, an interpretation of the Power Engineers Regulation regarding operating experience for fired process heater operator’s certificate of competency candidates.
ABSA issued IB16-014 on the requirement for pneumatic test procedures (both application-specific test procedures and standard test procedures). This supersedes IB12-008 Rev.1.
Along with the above bulletins on pneumatic testing requirements, ABSA has issued AB-532 Design Registration Requirements for Application-Specific Pneumatic Test Procedures. The bulletin applies to pneumatic testing where the stored potential energy will be greater than 1677kJ.
ABSA released IB16-016 concerning the movement of tanks not designed for transportation of the delivery of propane. This bulletin supersedes IB04-004.

ABSA revised a previous information bulletin (IB14-012) to reference the current edition of AB-506 for inspection intervals.
TSASK has made changes to the registration of a pressure piping design and the new pressure relief path stop valve control program.
BC Oil and Gas Commission has released an industry bulletin about changes to the suspension requirements for inactive wells. See the bulletin here.
