Senior Materials Engineer

The company provides a variety of engineering and inspection services for pressure equipment, above ground storage tanks, pipelines, operational difficulties, specifications, failure analysis, coatings and linings to a wide range of clients. Position Description:
The successful candidate is responsible for providing professional consulting services and expertise at a senior level to internal and external clients and to serve as a company resource for materials and coating technology expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts consulting work in the discipline of protective coatings for corrosion control as well as metallurgical evaluations.
- Maintains a high visible professional profile outside the company, with the objective of promoting RAE Engineering’s business interests in lab services and consulting.
Sets up and conducts business development and marketing of lab services and consulting as applicable.
Mentors others and co-ordinates with the needs of in-house engineers and other consultants regarding lab services.
Supports coating and materials inspection activities as required.
Supports RAE Engineering and Inspection Ltd. quality and safety programs, and provides input.
Has a professional improvement program and remains up to date with new technical developments and their commercial value to the company in the coatings and materials areas.
Participates in strategic planning and operational review for the company as required.
Provides support to company marketing initiatives as required.
Undertakes ad hoc tasks within the company as required.
Report writing and review of reports written by others.
Requirements/Qualifications:
BSc (MSc or PhD) in Materials Engineering (or related discipline) with a background in corrosion or metallurgical technology.
Minimum of 10 years relevant experience.
Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
Excellent supervisory and teamwork skills. Strategic planning skills essential.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Strong goal orientation and self-motivated.
