Senior Engineer Pipeline

RAE Engineering and Inspection Ltd. is an integrity engineering company that specializes in Total Asset Integrity Management.  The company has been in business since 1972 with a strong client base and good growth potential in its field of services.  The company provides a variety of engineering and inspection services for pressure equipment, above ground storage tanks, pipelines, operational difficulties, specifications, failure analysis, coatings and linings to a wide range of clients.  Services are provided mainly to the oil and gas industry, utilities, lumber, universities and others.  Our clients are located throughout western Canada with the main emphasis in Alberta.  The company is employee owned.  There is a comprehensive benefit package and wages are competitive in today’s market. 

Position Description: 

The successful candidate will coordinate engineering activities in the efficient execution of technical projects by managing pipeline integrity projects, engineering staff, and resources, tracking project progress, trouble shooting, directing technical support, data management, document control and submission of reports. 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Lead activities and staff to meet the technical requirements of projects, while maximizing the utilization of resources and providing the highest quality product
  • Prepare and/or review engineering reports, status reports and technical memoranda
  • Prepare budgets and proposals, itemize and prioritize tasks, set deliverables
  • In consultation with the Engineering Coordinator and Planner/Scheduler, schedule engineering and field engineering activities to meet client expectations
  • Provide technical guidance to Engineers, EITs and technologists, and peer review outgoing documents
  • In consultation with the Safety Administrator, monitor engineering staff to ensure adherence to RAE Engineering safety and loss management policies and procedures
  • Prepare engineering training budgets for the approval of the Manager, Engineering Services, and advise of any training needs
  • Participate in internal and external audits
  • Lead and/or participate in lessons learned sessions
  • Act as a mentor according to APEGGA requirements
  • Participate in monthly engineering coordination meetings, technical meetings and safety meetings
  • Participate in the annual stewardship reviews of technical staff and the hiring of new technical staff

 Requirements/Qualifications:

  • BSc in Materials Engineering (or related discipline) with a background in corrosion or metallurgical technology
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Registered, or eligible for registration as Professional Engineer in Canada
  • Demonstrated high level of competence in pipeline integrity
  • Excellent Microsoft Office, database management, ABSA PESL skills
  • Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Strong goal orientation
  • Excellent supervisory and teamwork skills
