Pressure Equipment Integrity Management


RAE Engineering and Inspection Ltd. specializes in the inspection of pressure equipment including boilers, processing equipment, storage tanks and pipelines in the power generation and oil and gas industries. We provide our clients with a comprehensive inspection service, expertise in equipment repair, fitness-for service evaluation, corrosion assessment, corrosion prevention, coating and lining inspection and evaluation of assets prior to purchasing and ongoing support in the management of client owned and operated equipment.

Inspection Staff

 

RAE Engineering and Inspection Ltd. employs both full-time and contract ABSA (PESL) Certified Inspectors holding API 510. API 653, API 570 and National Board qualifications for equipment inspection and NACE certified inspectors to conduct certification and testing of equipment coatings and linings. Inspector qualifications are supplemented with training and certifications are supplemented with training and certification in various NDE methods including ultrasonic thickness measurement, magnetic particle and dye penetrant examination techniques.

Our large staff and effective communication systems ensure that emergency assistance is always available.

Inspection Philosophy

 

RAE Engineering and Inspection Ltd. staff believe that an asset integrity program must:

  • Provide optimum uninterrupted production periods.
  • Identify problem areas.
  • Incorporate operation and production information into evaluation of inspection results.
  • Incorporate plant and pipeline corrosion management into the overall inspection program.
  • Identify root cause of failures and use this information to properly assess the risks associated.
  • Create an information loop, which provides effective inspection and maintenance scheduling.
  • Meet the API 579 fitness for service criteria.

Owner Inspection Programs

 

RAE Engineering and Inspection Ltd. is currently designated as Chief Inspector for a number of clients’ Pressure Equipment Integrity Programs registered with the Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA). We are assisting several other clients in developing integrity programs registered with the ABSA and we are assisting several others in developing integrity programs for submission. The designated Chief Inspector assumes full responsibility for the management of the client’s pressure equipment safety program including inspection scheduling, preparation of inspection plans, visual and non-destructive examination, inspection reporting and record retention.
